Horse Ride the Camino Finisterre Day 1 Santiago to Negreira

The first ride on this trip is a relatively short ride.  Leaving behind Santiago we will head initially north up to the small mountain village of Trasmonte.  From here we will then descend to Ponte Maceira to cross the Tambre River on the beautiful Roman Bridge to arrive at our destination for the day Negreira.  This is the largest town between Santiago and Finisterre.

Horse Ride the Camino Finisterre Day 2Negreira to Olveiroa

Today you will pass through the oldest medieval town of Portugal, Ponte de Lima and cross the Lima River.  Moving closer to the Finisterree border with Spain you will witness the landscape getting hillier and greener.  You are now in the heart of the Mino region.  Tonight you will stop over in Calherios staying in the palace of a Count.

Horse Ride the Camino Finisterre Day 3Olveiroa to Muxia

The ups and downs of today will take you through villages where the ever increasing small of the sea will entice you on.  The arrival to Muxia is truly beautiful along beaches and over dunes to reach the promenade.  In Muxia you can visit the church, A Virxen da Barca which is on the foot of a cliff.  We will relax over dinner and spend the night in this fishing village.

Horse Ride the Camino Finisterre Day 4Muxia to Finisterre

This final day you will make your way along the irregular Costa de Morte with its many caves and estuaries that have been formed by the power of the Atlantic Ocean.  Firstly reaching the town of Fisterre we will continue out to the Cape of Finisterre.  A mixture of sandy beaches and large rock formations will take us to the lighthouse and where pilgrims in the past would have taken leave of their fears and sorrows, burning their old clothes to purify themselves.  After visiting here we will return to Brion-Los Angeles where we started.
We can assist with arranging transfers from here to Santiago Airport or even a night in Santiago so don?t hesitate to ask you Camino consultant about this.
