Camino Romantico French Way Day 1 Sarria - Start of your romantic journey

To begin you will be booked into a hotel in the heart of the lively town of Sarria. The rooms are en-suite.

Camino Romantico French Way Day 2 Sarria to Portomarin (22 Km)

Ease into it with a peaceful walk in soft, shady oak woods, scenic villages and on winding country roads. The village of Barbadelo (580m) has a romantic Romanesque church that certainly is worth visiting. The following village of Ferreiros is particularly quaint.  Once you arrive in Portomarin (550m), you can laze about on one of the terraces of the main plaza.

Camino Romantico French Way Day 3 Portomarín to Palace do Rei (25 Km)

From this village, the Camino crosses the river Minho and begins to climb uphill. On the way, you will be passing Gonzar and visiting the Romanesque Church of Santa María, Castromaior.  Stop for a deserved little rest in the calm Galician Cemetery in Ligonde. Once in Eirexe, the Romanesque portal of the church is truely compelling as it contains a sculpture of Daniel and animals, as well as Santiago de Peregrino inside. Your walking day comes to an end once you arrive in Palas do Rei (565m).

Camino Romantico French Way Day 4 Palas do Rei to Melide (15 Km)

This day is a little easier as the route continues slightly downhill and pass a charming village aptly named, Casanova!  Then on to the quaint village of Leboreiro.  At Melide (454m), it's time to take a break; why not enjoy one of the restaurants and try some local specialties or visit the local museum?

Camino Romantico French Way Day 5 Melide to Arzua (13km)

The Camino follows a forest track and crosses several streams. This track brings you to the village of Boente, which contains the church of Santiago. Then you'll arrive at the medieval village of Ribadiso, and finishing off your day at Arzua (389m). This cute town has 2 churches worth visiting, Santa María and La Magdalena.

Camino Romantico French Way Day 6 Arzua to Rua-O Pino (18 Km)

On this picturesque section of the Camino, envelope yourselves in nature as it passes along streams, through sleepy villages and woods.  Do take time to visit the chapel of Santa Irena, with its exclusive statue of Santiago. The last of the way to Rua/O Pino is placid and quiet country roadway.  Rua (310m) is one of the more peaceful points to take a break before Santiago de Compostela.

Camino Romantico French Way Day 7 Rua to Santiago de Compostela (21 Km)

No to long now! The next leg of your adventure is Lavacolla, this is where pilgrims traditionally cleansed in the river in preparation for reaching Santiago de Compostela.  Soaring eucalyptus trees line your way along the route to Monte del Gozo (368m). From the "Mount of Joy" you can see your destination - the Cathedral of Santiago!  Keep your eyes on the prize as you decend to the city of Santiago (264m, population 80,000).  Here you can fully experience this UNESCO World Heritage Site with all it's offerings.  Take the time to marvel at the architecture (and each other) and relish the wonderful ambience of this cultural and spiritual heart.

Camino Romantico French Way Day 8 Santiago de Compostela, end of the Camino Romantico

After a hearty breakfast you begin your journey home to enjoy the rest of your lives, enriched with amazing memories.
