  • Pilgrim Office in Santiago de Compostela

Pilgrim Office in Santiago de Compostela image

The Pilgrim office is where all pilgrims who have walked, horse rode or cycled on the Camino are welcomed to the Tomb of St. James. In this office, they issue the final stamp of the Cathedral of Santiago on office pilgrim passports as well as the traditional certificate, the Compostela. It is awarded to those who have travelled on foot or horseback at least 100km (cycled 200km) and fulfilled the criteria of a bona-fide pilgrim.

The Pilgrim office in the Casa do Deán is adjacent to the Cathedral in Rúa Vilar at its junction with Rúa Gelmirez. There is a notice board there for Pilgrims to leave messages. See the map below.

There are signs all over the city showing how to get to the Pilgrims’ Office.
