This Walking Holiday explores the Camino Aragones / Aragonese Way, following the iconic Camino de Santiago de Compostela, the famous Way of Saint James.

Claimed by some to be the original Roman road, the Camino Aragones follows the river Aragon. The way starts at the steppes of the Pyrenees and reaches the Navarra Mountains to join the Camino Frances in Puente de la Reina.

At each stage, you are guaranteed a high level of comfort and gastronomy. The trail is clearly marked out with the “Scallop Shell” showing you the way. This section is quite physically demanding and requires a reasonable level of fitness. However, it’s a highly rewarding walk that includes numerous cultural highlights.

Day By day
Camino frances santiago de compostela

PuceDay 1 - To Jaca
You will be booked in a hotel in the heart of the small town of Jaca. The rooms are en-suite.

Town: Internet, ATM, shops, all facilities.
Accomodation: 1* hotel, en-suite.
Meal: B&B

PuceDay 2 - From Jaca to Berdun (30km 6.5h +200m -340m)
From the "Pirineo Aragones", the Aragonese Pyrenees, the Camino follows the river Aragon westwards, on generally flat terrain. This beautiful part of the valley called "corridor of the canal de Berdun", is mostly arable land with very few trees. To the south of the Camino you will see two minor mountain chains: Pena Orel & Sierra de St Juan de la Pena.

  Town: Internet, ATM, shops.
Accomodation: 1* hotel, en-suite.
Meal: Half Board

PuceDAY 3 – From Berdun to Leyre (30km 6.5h +200m -300m)
The Camino continues along the river Aragon, towards the controversial Yesa Dam. The lonely landscape is predominantly agricultural until you reach Tiermas. You will then be in sight of the woodlands of the Sierra de Pena Musera.

  Town: 1 restaurant at monastery
Accomodation: 17th Century monastery in the hamlet of Leyre, en-suite.
Meal: Half Board

PuceDAY 4 – From Leyre to Sanguesa (15km 3.5h +300m -500m)
This part of the Camino continues along the Yesa reservoir, at the foothills of the Sierra de Pena Musera. Then, taking a small countryside road, we pass the fabulous "Castillo Javier", built in the 14th Century. This castle is famous because St Francis Xavier was born here in 1506.

Town: Internet, ATM, shops, all facilities.
Accomodation: 2* hotel, en-suite
Meal: Half Board

PuceDAY 5 – From Sanguesa to Monreal (26km 6h +550m -300m)
Today, you will have a choice between two Caminos. Both options offer beautiful views. If you choose to pass by the Alto de Aibar, the stretch between Rocaforte and Izco is uninhabited and you run the risk of losing your way if you do not follow the signs carefully. The other Camino keeps close to the road and its main attraction is the incredible gorge of "Foz de Lumbier".

  Town: Internet, ATM, shops.
Accomodation: 2* hotel, en-suite.
Meal: Half Board

PuceDAY 6 – From Monreal to Puente de la Reina (31km 7h +100m -350m)
This stage takes you along the northern side of the Sierra de Alaiz, over the cereal plain of the Elorz valley to Tierbas (from here you can see Pamplona to the north). You now enter the Valdizarbe region, and follow the river Robo to Puente de la Reina.

  Town: Internet, ATM, shops.
Accomodation: 2* hotel, en-suite.
Meal: B&B

PuceDAY 7 – Puente de la Reina - Final day
After breakfast we bid you farewell. Alternatively, you can continue along the French Way (Camino Frances) with us.

Town: Internet, ATM, shops, all facilities.
