Testimonials

It was a very nice experience to undertake this journey. Summary of the trip: the body was exhausted but the soul could fly. The Camino has taken me captive.

Eva - May 2013- Germany

Having just come back from 5 days on the Camino - the French Way, all i can say is what an amazing experience and challenge it was, one must go and try some part of it. Its an unforgettable experience, where you see amazing places and meet really nice and interesting people. I will definitely go back and do some more of it. I would highly recommend it and also recommend booking through Follow the Camino. Syliva was great in the Dublin office more than helpful all the time. Thanks a million.

Niamh - May 2013- Ireland

Upon my return home, my brother asked me to sum up my Camino experience in one word -- "amazing". Thanks to the very efficient Follow the Camino team!

Patricia - May 2013- Canada

Thank you for helping make my dream of walking the Camino a reality. Everything worked perfectly the hotels were really friendly and comfortable and the walking notes made it possible for me to Follow the Camino with confidence despite walking it alone from Leon Many thanks

Philippa, April 2013- UK

Easter time on the Camino. A quiet time. A special time. Ignore the rain. Get your walking shoes on. Find a friend. Let Follow the Camino take the strain. Lovely. Easter 2013

Mat and Party of 4, April 2013- UAE

Follow the Camino could not have been better organized. I booked late but they made sure, everything got to me on time. The local contact was available to answer any questions and the comfortable style and central locations of the hotels and hostels were just what I needed after walking all day. Thank you for taking away any additional stress from this solo traveller!

Susan Wilson, March 2013- Australia

Our family enjoyed the rolling hills, wonderful scenery and people we met along the way. The only time it rained was at an opportune time for us to have lunch at a wonderful cafe, when we finished the sun came out and we did not see any rain till we reached Santiago! The people at the hotels were all very hospitable and the food was fantastic, especially in Arzua. I still remember the shrimp crepes, yumm. Three of us are 70+ years old and three in their 30's, it was quite a challenge for us but the "youngsters" did fine! And so did we!

Anita - January 2013 - Group of 6- United States

I had a wonderful Camino experience using Follow the Camino to book my trip. I had a medical issue and could not walk one day, and they were extremely helpful and assisted me in making transport arrangements to the next hotel. The customer service is excellent, and the accommodations booked were really great. I would definitely recommend them to others and book with them again.

Tarik L - December 2012- USA

Our hiking trip on the camino de Santiago was nothing short of magic. The country side is gorgeous. Our guide, Natalia was intelligent, interesting, positive, cheerful and a pure joy to walk with. We learned so much about the history and culture of Spain. We will never forget how much fun we had on this trip. Thank you!!!

Lois - November 2012- USA

My sister and I have returned from walking section 2 of Le Puy way. It really was a life changing experience which exceeded all our expectations. Follow the Camino organised all the details perfectly, and we stayed in the most gorgeous villages along the way. We walked through green pastures and met local farmers and their animals. Strolled alongside babbling brooks and through shady forests. We met many pilgrims along the way and formed close friendships. It is a holiday I would highly recommend to anyone looking to enjoy the beauty of nature and the rich culture of the country.

Bev - October 2012- Sydney Australia

My wife and I did the last 111km of the French Way in October 2012. This was our first long distance walk and we were very grateful to have your organization behind us all the way. Even though the weather was mixed, it did not detract from each day's journey. Finally, to arrive in front of the Cathedral (without any trace of blisters) was the most exhillarating moment. We have never experienced such a feeling of achievement and overall fulfilment.

Fred and his wife - October 2012- United Kingdom

4 retired teachers walked part of the Camino del Norte using the services of FTC in October 2012. Last year we walked the Camino Ingles booking our own accommodation/transfers etc. The service provided by FTC was absolutely first class and all arrangements worked perfectly. Hotels were of a very good quality and all were very conveniently located. We would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending the services of FTC to fellow walkers. Buen Camino!

Adrian, Eric, Mike and Tony - October 2012- United Kingdom

I've traveled twice with Follow the Camino, doing different legs of the way itself, and I have always found them to be highly efficient at organising our itineraries, from accommodation to food to transport.

Gerard - October 2012- Ireland

Just back from our trip away and I wanted to write and let you know that everyone had the time of their lives on the Camino! It was very not and despite worn in boots most of us had blister issues but it didn't stop us from enjoying ourselves at all and thank goodness, skin heals!

We are now all returned safely with masses of photos and memory banks filled with wonderful experiences and fun. Thank you so MUCH Susan for helping to make our trip such a memorable one. The Hotels, connections, and people we encountered were all so helpful. Everyone was on time, and comfortable beds with plenty of hot water in clean and welcoming Hotels were very much appreciated.

Despite 5 blisters myself ( I was most indignant about that!), I'm looking at the next piece to walk and think that possibly the leg from Sarria to Santiago de Compostella in May 2014 might be attractive enough to woo some of the group back again.

Sarah - October 2012- New Zealand - Group of 20

My son and I thoroughly enjoyed our walk arranged through Follow the Camino. Having the accomodation and luggage transfer organised meant we could enjoy the time walking together with ease. All the accomodation was excellent and it was easy to contact the company before and during our stay as required. I would definitely recommend this as a holiday alone or with others.

Elyse - October 2012- Australia

My wife and I had one of our best vacations ever and can't say enough about the team at Follow the Camino. The Camino was a deeply moving spiritual journey for us as well as a challenging walk and your team made it a wonderful experience in not having to worry about anything. The accomodations were great and the meals were gourmet. Thanks again,

Bruce - September 2012- USA

Superb service! We had one glitch -- a miscue on airport arrivals -- on a Sunday. Called the emergency # and got an immediate response and resolution. Truly outstanding. And that doesn't begin to mention how great the trip itself was ...

Wendy - September 2012- USA

I just finished a guided tour with "Follow the Camino". We started in Sarria on Sept. 9 and walked into Santiago late Friday afternoon on Sept. 14. This was an amazing trip. We had a outstanding local guide and the hotels were either two or three stars. After walking 20km, a clean bed and hot shower seemed like heaven. I traveled with the funniest Irish people I have ever met. The Camino is relatively unknown in the US. Get out your credit card and buy any trip the company offers. It is hard to find the words to describe the beauty of Spain and the many experiences I had on the trip. Just Do It!

John H. - September 2012- Baltimore, MD. USA

Just returned from an amazing 5 days on the Camino! It was a complete unknown, and even more risky taking 19 others with me but One Foot Abroad did a fantastic job!!! Thank you so much everyone who helped to make our trip so special. Everything went like clockwork. Connections were there on time and smiling faces and helpfulness were always evident. The Hotels were great especially the comfortable beds and hot showers after a long day of walking in 30+ heat A special thank you to you Susan, who as our contact made the whole experience of organising a trip for 20 people so much easier. I'm now planning dates to walk the next piece and looking forward to it! Thank you all from all of us!!

The New Zealand Team - September 2012- New Zealand

A fantastic experience, despite rain on a lot of the journey. We met many interesting people along the way of all ages and nationalities and greatly enjoyed our conversations whilst we walked. Our guide Silvie was always around to take the stress out of the journey and the comfort of having the organisation sorting out all the logistics made our Camino stress free and very special.

Colin - July Guided- Surrey, UK

Just back from a week on the French Camino with guide leader Elaine. She was super and made it such a memorable journey. She is a gem! A rare find. The efficiency and delivery of our cases from start to finish was fantastic. A extremely enjoyable journey and experience with your company and a special big Thank You to Elaine our guide leader who definitely played a huge part in the experience. Regards and Best Wishes to all at Follow the Camino

Marie B. - July Guided 2012- Ireland

We have walked part of the Camino Frances every test for the last few years and have almost reached the end. It is the highlight of our year, the places we see, people we meet both locals and fellow walkers and the experiences we have had have been unbelievable. We are not religious but find our time on the Camino a very enjoyable and relaxing time. Using one foot abroad has taken the headache and work out of trying to organise it, especially as our Spanish is still quite limited.

Laurence - August 2012- Ireland

A great guide. Wonderful walking weather and conditions. A marvellous mix of personalities who gelled gloriously from the outset. An unforgettable week! Seachtain dár saol!

Máire - August 2012- Ireland

As an inexperienced walker over 60 years old, I am happy & proud to have successfully completed Section 8 of the French Way through the assitance of the Team One Foot Ahead & Follow the Camino. I actually have not spoken to any of the Customer Service Team. They tried to call a couple of times but failed to reach me by phone, but I didn't feel the need to call back because all the answers to my questions were already provided by the company through email & by post. Thanks to the company's instructions & advice in preparation for the walk which I followed as best I can, everything turned out just fine. My husband & I did the walk together and to us, it was a unique experience we will always remember. I believe we were in good hands at the Camino with the competent services of Follow The Camino & One Foot Ahead Team. So, let me take this opportunity to say THANK YOU, also in behalf of my husband.

Teonila - June 2012- Switzerland

Just back from a 9 day holiday booked with one foot abroad. From the minute we contacted them they were extremely helpful and professional in tailoring the holiday to cater for out needs. The hotels, luggage transfer, meals were excellent. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience from start to finish!!!!!! Looking forward to booking again

Mary - June 2012- Ireland

Thanks to all in the Follow the Camino Office for their support during my organisation of Stage 8 of the Camino for a party of 16. All went superbly well, airport transfers, hotels, food and luggage transfers. All information suppled eased the journey. Well done to all for a wonderful experience. Will be going back with you next year to continue to Finistere.

Mary (Party of 15) - May 2012- Ireland

We can’t recommend this company highly enough. The staff were always helpful friendly and knowledgeable and the organisation flawless. The accommodation was comfortable, and without exception the staff were welcoming and obliging. The holiday was a great experience – a wonderful way to see Galicia and we can’t wait to book again to walk another section of the Camino.

John and Rachel - April 2012- England

I think all 8 of us were really pleased with the accommodation and the food. Our first evening meal (2nd day) and breakfast were fantastic, all home made and lots of it! It was a high marker for the rest but nobody disappointed. A beautiful section to walk, with sea, mountains, woodlands and a very tranquil time to go. It was great not to have to carry luggage.

Elaine (organiser of a group of 8) - March 2012- Ireland

We travelled as a group of 13 and had a great time, would recommend walking this route. We had a trouble free trip with luggage transferred and accommodation organized without mishap. Thanks to Follow the Camino on a great job!!

Kerry (organiser of group of 13) - March 2012- Australia

Dear Follow the Camino, What an amazing experience the trip (guided tour, section 8 of the French Way) turned out to be! Our guide, Elaine Jones, was absolutely wonderful. She was ever-prepared, efficient, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and really took care of all of us throughout the trip. The accommodation and meals were excellent. The people were wonderful. By the time we reached Santiago, we were one big family. Thank you very much for arranging the logistics of the trip so well. I hope to come back to Santiago again, and would definitely book with Follow the Camino again. Buen Camino!

Georgia - May 2012- Switzerland

This is probably the first time in a while that I can honestly say on finishing a trip that I had nothing to complain about! The organisation of all aspects were superb from taxi pick up at the airport to accomodation and meals to luggage transfer. Many thanks to all of the Follow the Camino crew

Jacinta O'Reilly and party - September 2011- Dublin, Ireland

Excellent accommodation and trip planning. All the places we stayed and the meals we ate were first rate. Transportation provided was on time and professionally rendered. Our team of 5 had a marvelous time hiking the Portuguese Camino.

Edward (Team of 5), October 2011- USA

A great experience. Well organised. October is a great time to go - weather was lovely, not too hot. Beautiful countryside and met great people. Buen Camino.

Richard, October 2011- Ireland

We had another fantastic time on our walk. The organization of our accommodation and luggage transfers was excellent.Help was only a phone call or email away. Thanks for making our holiday so enjoyable and hassle-free.

Michelle, October 2011- Autralia

The notes were informative and valuable. A minor problem at one hotel was fixed immediately when we contacted the One Foot helpline. How an organisation responds to a problem is a good test of its integrity and reliability. I loved the holiday and was very impressed at how well everything went. It was also excellent value for money.

Graham, October 2011- Australia

All the staff at 'Follow the Camino' were very helpful, the organisation and administration of my Tour (Section 8 of the French Way) went very well and our guide, Elaine, was excellent.

Barry, October 2011- England

One Foot Abroad took all the worry out of our pilgrimage on the Camino. Our accommodations were booked and each day when we arrived tired from several hours of walking, we were always happy to see our luggage waiting for us. Most of the accommodations were right on the trail and the food was excellent. We would definitely book with this company again in the future.

Paula, October 2011- Canada

We truly enjoyed our hike from Sarriia to Saniago de Compostela. The trip was spiritually uplifting and a great adventure for myself and my husband. Food and accommodation was excellent. One Foot Abroad did an amazing job to ensure our trip was worry-free and a memorable one. Thank You.

Edissa, October 2011- Canada

The opportunity to enjoy the Camino without a camelload of luggage on your back and frantic search for the next free albergue.

Małgorzata, August 2011

We are in our 60s and there were some challenges, but nothing really too difficult. wonderful experience! Very scenic and beauriful section of the camino with good signage. A memorable cross section of Basque culture with good accomodation, great food and wine, and wonderful people. One foot abroad was also extremely helpful. We had to call them once when we lost our voucher and forgot the name of the hotel in Getaria. Mucho bueno vistas, lovely beaches and mountains...charming small towns, chruches and cafes...me gusto mucho. thanks again and buen camino!

Michael and Mary Jean - September 2011- USA

The whole holiday was extremely well organised. Everything was taken care of. Our guide, Elaine, was excellent -friendly, good humoured, energetic, and easy going. Her good natured attitude, thoughtfulness and local knowledge made for a memorable holiday. I cannot recommend her too highly - she was fantastic ! I'd choose another holiday with her as our guide.

Jill, September 2011- Great Britain

Follow the Camino did an excellent job in making my Camino experience and my mother's exceptionally memorable. They are a first class operation and I was very impressed with the flawless transfers and excellent accommodations along the Camino.

Shawn - September 2011- USA

loved it--took the Easy day trip from sarria as i have a bad back--had to stop every 300 meters and rest and do yoga stretches, but made it--was really nice to have it be organized so well and run like clockwork--i couldn't have walked around hoping to find shelter each night--even though they call it easy, it is not without its challenges, but of course that brings the rewards.we are all fit and over 60, but very happy not to be walking 28-30 km/day--could relax almost every afternoon. wonderful

Bob, September 2011- Canada

Would love to thank you for the wonderful arrangement that you have done for my group. They all loved the hotels and the meals that you arranged! It was marvelous! After 1 week in Madrid for the World Youth Day, what really fulfilled our trip was the Camino walk.
Would love to work further with you in future for future pilgrimage.

Thomas (Organiser Group of 16), September 2011

I just wanted to let you know that your service was exceptional, excellent, awesome, thoughtful, etc..My husband Edgardo and I did the FR8 to Santiago and every accommodation was more than I expected, the food outstanding.  We had the time of our lives.  Now we are planning our next walking holiday.

Acacia, August 2011

Perdita, July 2011

I just wanted to drop a note and let you know what a great experience I had using your company's services for the Camino de Santiago.  My friend, Linda and I just recently returned from our Camino.  It was excellent.  The hotels along the route were lovely; the food was great and best of all was our guide, Elaine.  She was such a joy to be with.  She was so knowledgeable, charming, and knew how to give us our independence on the Camino, while also checking in with us throughout our daily walks.  I know that my Camino would not have been as enjoyable if I were doing it on my own.  She is a great asset to your company.  I will recommend your services to all my friends.

Ellen, July 2011

I would just like to thank you on behalf of our group for a marvelous experience on our recent Follow the Camino break. Everything ran very smoothly - even the baggage transfers which I have to admit we were a little dubious about at the start! All hotel staff were very friendly and made us feel very comfortable (we especially liked the little apartment in Rua and the lovely traditional food - even if some people nearly died when they realized they had eaten octopus!

Mairead, (Catholic Guides of Ireland Group), September 2011

My trip was superb in every way (and I was able to walk it all, which was a very great thing for me.)  I loved every one of the hotels... the people were lovely and the food was good.  And my luggage was always, miraculously there, with no anxiety or fuss.  I have already recommended Follow The Camino to a number of people.

Thank you, Susan, for a wonderful experience.  Your patience and kindness had a great deal to do with the success of my trip.

Jerri, July 2011

Just a quick thank you for organising the last 110km to santiago for us!! Everything went smoothly, luggage transfers, accommodation. Everything was extremely comfortable .... I cannot complain about anything!!!! Keep up the good work

Dr. John Hannan, June 2011

I was very impressed by your help and professionalism from the moment I enquired about the trip. Working out the details was made very easy and the information received beforehand was very helpful. Everything went very smoothly on the trip The accommodation was a very good choice. I especially loved the hotel in Portomarin. The baggage transfer was a godsend and went very smoothly. The staff in all the hotels were very pleasant and I even saw a photograph of our President on the restaurant wall in Hotel De Teodora. The walks were beautiful and the opportunity to meet up at the various cafes on the route was great. We met such lovely interesting people on the route and hope to meet with them again.

Overall a fabulous experience and I would recommend your company to anybody interested in doing the camino.
Well done to you and all the staff.

Geraldine, June 2011

I enjoyed this holiday much more than I could have imagined. It was extremely well planned and the group were just great.

Nuala, September 2011

I am back home after enjoying tremendously walking the First Section of the French Way with the logistics taken care of by Follow the Camino/One Foot Abroad organization. Overall, the organization and details were outstanding with excellent hotel choices, reliable and very professional transfer services, concise and very helpful walking notes, delivered items arriving on time and in good condition, and overall phenomenal customer service communication. I am extremely pleased with the services and would recommend wholehearterdly and without hesitation-- so much so in fact that upon return my first order of business was to check the Follow the Camino website for their other itineraries!  Again, Follow the Camino is EXCELLENCE in one word!

Maria, June 2011

Four of us did the final section of the french way to Santiago and we had a ball!! We made so many friends along the way and it was so interesting to hear other people's reasons for doing the walk and to hear how they were finding it. When we reached Santiago, we hugged each other and cheered!! It felt like a great achievement to us and we were all on such a high! We had never done a walking holiday before and we all loved it - we'll definitely be doing more sections of this walk as it's so well organised. Thanks for everything!

Imedla, September 2011

We are now back home in the U.S. from Spain, and want to tell you how very very much we enjoyed walking the Camino de Santiago de Compostela, starting in Sarria.  Your logistical support was outstanding.  The preparatory material was very helpful, the luggage transfer flawless (please thank Benjamin for us), and the hotels/board mostly excellent. We were surprised at how nice the hotels were - they were almost all much better than we expected - nice comfortable rooms, lovely surroundings, great food.

Altogether it was a wonderful, memorable experience.  Thank you for helping make it so great. We look forward to recommending "Follow the Camino" to our friends.

Nancy and Cliff, May 2011

We have just returned from the Camino and I must say that both my wife and myself enjoyed the Camino very much. The organisation was excellent, and the group of people who were with us were a very nice and good company. We also liked the accommodation, and were quite impressed with the choice of the hotels, especially where cleanliness is concerned. We also thouroughly enjoyed the walk.

I must mention how excellent our guide,Noel ,was. What a lovely man ,always ready to help out. He led the party very efficiently, always with a smile and nothing was a problem for him. He is a great guide. We will certainly recommend your Company to our friends, and maybe we will do the walk again next year.

Thanks for everything and best regards

Winston, May 2011

As for all the FTC arrangements, everything is going perfectly and the accommodation is fantastic - exceeding my expectations.

Lee, May 2011

Just a quick note to say many thanks for facilitating me on my Camino. Everything went so well from the start thanks to all your hard work in selecting hotels, arranging transport for my luggage and providing such comprehensive walking notes. It was a tough walk, but it would have been tougher without your excellent service.
Thank you,

Adrian, April 2011

Thoroughly enjoyed my walking holiday along the Camino de Santiago. The lodging was generally first rate and the luggage transfer went off without a hitch which is also very nice. I was very impressed with the meals provided and found the Walking Notes very useful. I highly recommend this trip. Kudos to the Team for their friendly professionalism.

Ed, March 2011

Back safely late last night -Susan
We had a FABULOUS  trip - loved it (only 1 blister amongst us 3!)and will do more in furture- your admin worked perfectly- the bags , the hotels etc...it was wonderful...

Andy, June 2011

Having now completed our Camino pilgramage I would have no hesitation in saying it was one of the most enjoyable trips I have experienced. Our group of four contributed immensely to the experience but the oil which allowed the whole adventure to run so smoothly was provided by Follow the Camino. The organisation from the planning to the implementation was excellent topped off with our stay in the parador in Sanitago. A UNIQUE EXPERIENCE ORGANISED BY A UNIQUE COMPANY!

Bob, May 2011

As a 60-year-old woman wanting to take a solo walk, this was the perfect way for me to experience the camino. Thank you !

Elizabeth, September 2010

One Foot Abroad was an important factor in making my experience on the Camino and first walking holiday an unforgettable journey. I was traveling alone on a self guided tour, but felt I had the team's support through out. They were always available to answer the few questions I had and that was reassuring. My driver from the airport in Sarria, Benjamin, was an expert guide I should say and he too was of such great help in preparing me for what was to come. Most of the hotel/sleeping accommodations surpassed my expectations, each with their own charms and particularities. Everything I must say was well organized and I had no issues with my luggage along the way( that wasvery important for me). I would recommend that any friend or family entrust their future walking holidays to One foot Abroad. Thank so much guys!!

Stephanie, September 2010

Our Camino experience went beyond my expectations. The hiking was more challenging than I had imagined. But this made the holiday more rewarding for me because it tested my physical abilities. Walking also let me experience every sight and sound of the land and its people. I fell in love with the Basque country and its people. Our hotels and food were always superb and a wonderful reward for all the physical exercise. I will definitely take another walking holiday with your company!

Robin, June 2010- from Boise, Idaho

The Portuguese Way was fantastic - wonderful hotels, stunning countryside and above all amazing people - it was one of the hardest but best things I have ever done.Thank you for helping to make it happen

Justine, June 2010

Maureen, May 2010

One Foot Abroad allowed me (80) and my husband (81) to have one of the most memorable experiences of our lives walking the Camino de Santiago. We will always be grateful.

Marge, May 2010

Hi Team, My husband and I had a great time on the French Way (4 day walk) on the Camino. The walk was wonderful, accommodation great, especially the hotel in the converted monastery in Roncevalles. The info pack was very helpful and everything ran smoothly. We'll be travelling again with you.

Mary & Killian (32 yrs), April 2010

Just back from completing the second leg of the French Walk and could not recommend it highly enough. The accomodation was great, the luggage transfers fantastic and we met such an interesting array of people. Once again One Foot Abroad made our trip effortless and we will be back!!!!

Liz, April 2010

A wonderful walking holiday with spectacular cliffside trails, lemon trees, olive groves, goat farmers, monasteries and stunning views of the coastline. We walked in the low season (early March) which meant a lot of businesses on the Amalfi Coast were closed, but meant the local people were extremely helpful and friendly as there were so few tourists around. A beautiful part of the world with fantastic food to eat at the end of a steep day of walking!
