This Walking Holiday explores the Camino Fisterra / Finisterre Way, following the iconic Camino de Santiago de Compostela, the famous Way of Saint James.

The Jacobean Way comes to an end in the city of Santiago. However, many of the pilgrims decide to extend their journey to the “Coast of Death”. The Camino passes remote hilly villages and finishes at steep cliffs of Spain's westernmost point.

Everyday, during the walk, you are guaranteed a high level of comfort and gastronomy. The trail is clearly marked with the “Scallop Shell” showing you the way. This section requires a reasonable level of fitness. However, it’s a highly rewarding walk and includes numerous cultural highlights.

Day 1 - Santiago de Compostela You will be booked in a hotel in the heart of the historical town of Santiago de Compostela. The rooms are en-suite. Town: Internet, ATM, shops, all facilities. Meals: Breakfast. Day 2 - From Santiago to Negreira (5h30, 22km, +300m -180m) Taking the Plaza del Obradoiro as your starting point, you leave Santiago de Compostela. Today, the Camino passes many small villages and Roman bridges. Finally you will arrive at Neigreira, a town of medieval origin whose most outstanding monuments are the country house of Coton (Pazo do Coton) and an adjoining chapel dedicated to St Maurus. Town: Internet, ATM, shops, all facilities. Meals: Half Board Day 3 - From Negreira to Olveiroa (8h30, 33km +240m -170m) Passing the river Barcala, you continue along the mountainside, climbing the hillside of Monte Aro. From here you can view the Ferenza dam. Then the Camino enters the wild Serra de Castelo & the Xallas' valley. Town: Internet, ATM, shops, all facilities. Meals: Half Board

Day 4 - From Olveiroa to Cee (4h45, 19km +150m -490m) At first we follow the river Logosa and pass the Hermitage of Nosa Senora. Then, as we descend through the pine groves of Alto do Cruxeiro da Armada, the sea appears before us. Town: Internet, ATM, Shop, all facilities. Meals: Half Board Day 5 - Cee to Cape Fisterra (16km 4h +m -m) Today you will enjoy a fabulous coastal walk along cliffs and by coves to the Cape Fisterra and its lighthouse - your hotel tonight! Town: Nearest fully serviced town is Fisterra, 2.5km away. Meals: Half Board Day 6 - Cape Fisterra After breakfast we bid you farewell. You will need to walk back to the town of Fisterra (2.5km) and from there, take a bus back to Santiago (45mins). Meals: Breakfast

HOTEL AND GUESTHOUSE GRADES - HOW WE CHOOSE YOUR ACCOMMODATION

Our accommodation is selected based on a number of criteria, including location, comfort, services, price and character. We always try to book accommodation that is both on/near the Camino and also close to the historical quarter or centre of the town/city. This is facilitated by the fact that the Camino usually goes through the heart of each town and/or city.

In larger towns, which are usually at the beginning and end of each section, we book hotels of a 3* standard. In smaller towns/villages/hamlets in between the larger towns, we choose hotels or guesthouses of a 2* standard. However, there could be some exceptions to this rule, for example, in some small villages, our selection depends on local infrastructure and it may happen that the only possibility is a non-rated guesthouse. This does not mean it is not up to our standards only that it does not have an official classification, which is usually due to the rural and remote nature of parts of the Camino.

Given the reasons stated above, we do believe that a 2* hotel located in the historical centre is a better choice than a 3* hotel located in the outskirts of the town at a distance from the Camino. If our first choice is not available, we will use another accommodation of the same standard and price. If there is no such accommodation available, we may contact you to offer either an upgrade at a premium, or a downgrade with a refund, again based on local infrastructure in each area.
