The French Way is the most traditional of all the pilgrims' ways to Santiago and the best known internationally.

3rd section of the Camino Frances starts from Logrono at the centre of the famous Rioja region. Finishing in medieval Burgos. This section is slightly flatter than the previous; it crosses the hilly province of Burgos, passing typical villages, vineyards, ruined castles...

At each stage, you are guaranteed a great level of comfort and gastronomy. The trail marking is extremely well done with the “Scallop Shell” showing you the way. The walk requires a good physical condition. However, it’s a highly rewarding walk including numerous great cultural highlights.

PuceDay 1 - Logrono
You will be pre-booked in a traditional hotel in the heart of the town.
Logroño is a city rich in history and traditions that have been preserved since the Middle Ages. The Pilgrim's Route to Santiago de Compostela made this one of the most important towns on the route, leaving an interesting monumental legacy closely linked to the traditional passing of the pilgrims.

This first day is an easy stage through landscape dominated by vineyards. After 12km, you will pass Navarrete, a town build in the XIIth century by the "Knights of the Holy Sepulcher". Here you will have the chance to stop for some refreshment and to visit the fabulous Baroque Church of "La Ascension". Finally, arriving in Najera in the afternoon, you will discover the panoramic views from the hill where the town stands.

Possibility of visiting the Monastery of "Valvanera" lost in the middle of the "Sierra de la Demanda". Later today, you will arrive in Santo Domingo de la Calzada another great milestone on the road to Santiago.

PuceDAY 4 – Santo Domingo de la Calzada to Belorado (7h15, 24km, +260m -130m)
Once again we are back alongside the N-120. With scarcely the time to take in the trees, the Camino takes us through lots of crop fields, interspersed with small brooks and oak woods. This landscape warns us of the approaching mountain range and, indeed, we can soon see the Oca mountains looming on the horizon. This afternoon, you will have the chance to relax in the lovely main square of Belorado. Not to miss en-route: the Altarpiece in the XVIth century church of San Juan Bautista, in Granon.

In St Juan de Ortega, have a look at the Mausoleum, a piece of art carved in Gothic Flamboyant style.

The city, which was the capital of the unified kingdom of Castilla-Leon for five centuries, boasts a masterpiece of Spanish Gothic architecture: the Cathedral of Burgos, declared World Heritage. Aside from a visit to the historic quarter, you can take quite an interesting walk along the banks of the Duero and Arlanza rivers. Great places to try out a delicious, varied cuisine.
