5 Days/4 nights camino santiago grade half Board hotels en-suite Spring to Autumn From €390

The French Way is the most traditional of all the pilgrims' ways to Santiago and the best known internationally.

1st section of the Camino Frances. Starting from France, St Jean P. de P, & finishing in Pamplona, famous for its Bull Run festival. At 1st following the Route Napoleon over the Roncesvalles’s Pass (1500m). Then across Basque country on a more gentle terrain.

At each stage, you are guaranteed a great level of comfort and gastronomy. The marking is extremely well made with the “Scallop Shell” showing you the way. The walk requires a good physical condition. However, it’s a highly rewarding walk including numerous great cultural highlights.

Day 2 - Saint Jean Pied de Port To Roncesvalles (8h30, 26km, +1250m -540m).
This first day is considered the most difficult as the route crosses the Pyrenees. The "Route Napoleon" kicks off with a steep climb, on through orchards and past country houses and then, later on, through Alpine style meadows, before weaving its way alongside leafy beech woods towards the border and the descent into Roncesvalles. The Valcarlos route mainly follows the road which runs through the valley alongside the river Nive or river Valcarlos. Don't miss the "Collegiate Church" in Roncesvalles.

NOTE: if you would like to walk at a more relaxed pace, we can split this walking day into 2 stages (12km & 14km), staying overnight in the nice village of Valcarlos. Here you will be staying a charming 2* hotel. (+€90pps)
